After hearing a lot about fracturing for gas, I wanted to find out some more about it. I found this video produced over a year ago http://www.archive.org/details/Gasland2010 Really? They are now allowed to do this? Why?
More and more of our drinking water is being containated by things we can prevent and things we can’t, fracturing is something that can be stopped, before it’s too late.
It becomes clearer every day that hydraulic fracturing is not the solution to our energy problems. From New York to Pennsylvania to Arkansas, citizens and elected officials are taking a stand against fracking. Even Chesapeake Energy, the second largest natural gas producer in the country, has decided to suspend fracking in the state of Pennsylvania until they can figure out what caused a recent blowout. We’re building momentum against fracking, but we need your help.
Hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” injects millions of gallons of fracking fluids — a mixture of nearly 600 chemicals, water and sand — into a well to create pressure that cracks open rocks underground, releasing natural gas. There are many problems with the toxic wastewater that results, and few solutions to the water contamination that can happen as a result of fracking. Many communities and states have already passed resolutions against fracking. We need to pass more resolutions at the local level to move this issue to the national level. Can you help build the movement against fracking?
